Golf

The IGSSA WA Golf competition is an annual event introduced in 2016, offering opportunities for schoolgirls from IGSSA member schools to compete in a formal golf setting. Initially part of the PSA Golf Competition at Royal Perth Golf Club, it has since evolved into a standalone IGSSA event.

IGSSA WA Golf Competition 2025 – A Day of Grit, Resilience and Smiles

Golfers from all IGSSA schools are invited to play. This event will always be played on the Monday of the Mid-term Break in term 3.

An 18-hole Competition is for students who have a Golflink number & handicap and are experienced in playing the game (scoring & golf etiquette). The 18-hole event will be a combined Stroke/Stableford Comp (for players with a GA under 18) & Stableford only Comp (for players with a GA over 18)

A fun 9-hole Team Ambrose Competition will be offered for girls who are newer to golf, still developing, do not yet have a handicap or are not yet comfortable playing the full 18-hole comp (teams will be organised through IGSSA). This competition is not appropriate for players who have NEVER had any previous exposure to Golf before. There is an expectation that they are familiar with swinging a golf club (either through lessons, or visits to the driving range / X-Golf centres etc..). Knowledge of Golf rules & etiquette is not necessary as we will have a leader guiding the groups on the day.

Please contact IGSSA directly if you have any queries regarding this competition.

HISTORY

IGSSA Golf was introduced in 2016 following an invitation to participate in the PSA Golf Competition at Royal Perth Golf Club. This has since become an annual event and we have a small, but growing group of golfers from our schools competing in a Stroke and Stableford competition.

2021 saw the event move to Cottesloe Golf Club in an IGSSA Standalone event which allowed the expansion of the competition to include a fun 9 Hole Team Ambrose competition for our developing golfers (those who are yet to acquire a handicap or those with a handicap that are not ready for a full 18 holes of golf). Golfers with handicaps who have full knowledge of golf rules and etiquette compete in an 18 hole Stroke (Gross) Competition and a Stableford competition.

The most recent 2025 IGSSA Golf Day was played at Cottesloe Golf Club & Lake Claremont Golf Course. 15students competed in the18 hole competition whilst 32 players took part in the Ambrose team competition at Lake Claremont Golf Course for developing players.

Kelly Wang from Perth College won the Stroke IGSSA Golf Championship in 2025 and Kirby Branson from St Mary’s won the Stableford Competition in 2025.
