IGSSA WA Golf Competition 2025 – A Day of Grit, Resilience and Smiles

The 2025 IGSSA WA Golf Competition will go down in history – not only for the fierce contest, but also as the coldest day recorded in Perth in the past 50 years. With rain, strong winds and chilly temperatures, the conditions at Cottesloe Golf Course tested every ounce of determination.

What was most remarkable, however, was the spirit and resilience of our IGSSA golfers!

18 Hole Stroke Competition

The Stroke players faced a tough test on a wet and windswept Cottesloe course. Perth College edged out MLC to take out honours in the Stroke Competition, with Iona placing third.

The Stableford Competition also produced a fantastic contest, with players showing tremendous perseverance. St Mary’s won this competition, with Santa Maria finishing in 2nd and 3rd place.

The 9 Hole  Ambrose Competition for developing Golfers was another fun event, despite the conditions. Spirits remained high, and what stood out was the attitude of the girls – laughing, smiling, and encouraging one another the whole way around. Their positivity turned a bleak day into a memorable one.

3 teams tied to take out the honours in the Ambrose event. A Senior Combined team from St Hilda’s/ Perth College, a young team of MLC Year 7 students, and another team of St Hilda’s students all combined to produce great team scores and shine on the day.

A heartfelt thank you must go to our incredible IGSSA Alumni helpers and Golfing superstars – Isabelle Ling (MLC), Isobel Dorrington (STM), Ava Donovan (SAN), and Elise Gavin (IONA) – and to our Staff from our member schools for supporting the event.

We also acknowledge Cottesloe Golf Club and Lake Claremont Golf Course for supporting this annual event.

While the conditions were some of the harshest we’ve ever faced, the 2025 IGSSA Golf Competition was a celebration of resilience, sportsmanship and community. Our players – from the elite Stroke competitors to the Ambrose teams – embodied the IGSSA WA spirit, proving that grit and positivity can turn even the coldest, wettest day into a triumph.
