IGSSA WA Rowing Season Launches in Style at Champion Lakes.

The 2025 IGSSA WA Rowing season got off to a fantastic start on 10 May, with near-perfect conditions greeting rowers at Champion Lakes.

Iona made an early statement in the Senior Quad A race, taking the win ahead of a determined PLC crew. PLC, however, showcased their impressive depth across the program, performing strongly in the remaining Senior Quad and Senior VIII races, and dominating the Year 10 VIII and Quad divisions.

Perth College’s Freshman crews had a standout opening regatta, setting the pace in both the Freshman VIII and Quad Scull categories — a strong signal of things to come this season.

In Year 9, Iona’s crews delivered bold performances, making their presence felt in both the Year 9 VIII and Quad Scull events and throwing down the challenge to the rest of the field.

The Junior and Senior Single Scull events featured some tight racing, with John XXIII, Perth College, and PLC all in strong contention.

The full results from Regatta 1 can be viewed here : Regatta 1 Resulrs. PLC emerged as Regatta 1 Champions, with Perth College claiming second place and Penrhos rounding out the top three.
