The 2026 IGSSA Swimming Carnival delivered a spectacular night of competition at Perth High Performance Centre, with St Hilda’s College cementing their place in IGSSA history by claiming the Overall Champion School title for an extraordinary sixth consecutive year.
St Hilda’s dominated across all year groups, topping all six individual year pennants (Years 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 and 12) on their way to a commanding overall score of 1207 points — more than 200 points clear of second-placed Iona Presentation College (991.5). St Mary’s Anglican Girls’ School rounded out the podium in third place with 983.5 points.
The atmosphere on the night was electric, with students across all ages and ability levels coming together to support their teammates. The camaraderie and school pride was on show, as was some outstanding swimming!
The carnival produced a number of standout individual performances. St Hilda’s broke the 16 Years 100m Freestyle record with a time of 57.53 seconds, eclipsing the previous mark of 57.60 set back in 2012. In the relay pool, St Hilda’s Year 10 team also broke the 15 Years 4x50m Medley Relay record, finishing in 2:06.43 to go under the previous record of 2:09.50.
St Hilda’s and Perth College produced an exciting contest in the Year 12 50m Freestyle Div 1, with Cross taking the win in a swift 27.63 seconds. Eliza Dawson of Methodist Ladies’ College also impressed, winning the Year 10 50m Freestyle Div 1 in 28.43 seconds, matching the existing record set in 2025.
Iona Presentation College had reason to celebrate too, with their Old Girls relay team taking line honours in the exhibition race in a sharp 1:58.06. Perth College improved on last year’s overall seventh place to come in fifth – a huge improvement.
Congratulations to all students, coaches and sport staff across our member schools for another outstanding carnival. A special acknowledgement to the staff and volunteers who made the day run so smoothly.
